El corazón de lo que existe (for soprano and electronics) is based on a poem by Argentinean writer Alejandra Pizarnik (1936-1972), included in Los trabajos y las noches (1965). This work is the result of an artistic investigation realized by the composer, dedicated in this case to the use of the word “silence” in Pizarnik’s poetry.

Susan Campos-Fonseca comments: “In Pizarnik’s poetry, I find a fabric woven between the word silence, the color white, and noise, the three as saturation. White, light; it devours everything. The concept of silence in Pizarnik’s work speaks to me from that white abyss, invoking the memory of a species consumed by its own autophagy.”

The cover art is Piece No. 13, Durmiendo en la orilla (Sleeping on the Shore), 2010, by Spanish artist Pablo Nadie, with whom the composer began collaborating.

El corazón de lo que existe inaugurates a project guided by the thoughts of Alejandra Pizarnik and the Danish writer Inger Christensen (1935-2009). The project will be an oratorio that Irreverence Group Music will present as a new album in 2018.
