"Viaje Etéreo", the new album of composer and cellist, Elena Zúñiga

In November, 2017, Costa Rican composer and cellist, Elena Zúñiga, will launch her new album: Viaje Etéreo. The album is part of her project Elena y la orquesta lunar and is sponsored by ACAM, (Society of composers and writers in Costa Rica).

In July 2017, composer and cellist Elena Zúñiga, was chosen as a beneficiary for the production of her first album Viaje Etéreo. The album is part of her project Elena y la orquesta lunar. According to the call made for ACAM, in the Annual Award for Unpublished Music and Dissemination of the Costa Rican Talent (2017), Ms. Zúñiga was chosen under the criteria of innovation, creativity and contribution or incidence that musical works may have for the Costarican musical cultural development.

Elena y la Orquesta lunar:

This experimental group begins in July 2016 in San José, Costa Rica. With an acoustic instrumentation of piano, saxophone, cello, bass, drums and voice, this project highlights the sound qualities of its instruments to create landscapes in each of his works. The music combining elements of Latin, ethnic, jazz, bossa nova, rock, tango and instrumental parts in the classic style with some electronic programming.

Elena Zúñiga Escobar is a Music educator, composer, singer, ensemble and choral conductor. Zúñiga was born in Costa Rica. She began her music career at the age of nine at the “Youth Symphony Orchestra” and sang in some recognized operas back then. In 2003, she started studying Music Teaching at the University of Costa Rica majoring in cello and took part of its String Orchestras, and since then, has been giving private music lessons of solfeo, cello, choral conducting and classical & popular piano to children, youth, and adults.
