In EXILIO, we delve into the profound impact of Colombian composer Luis A. Calvo on Ahmed’s musical evolution, as he shares how this influential figure has shaped and inspired the album’s unique sound.

Directed by composer and visual artist Julián De La Chica, whose previous works include the critically acclaimed films Agatha and Dora, EXILIO recently won the “Best Documentary” award at the “New York Movie Awards” under the “Best Short Doc” category and was officially selected by the Florence Film Awards. EXILIO is a captivating exploration of the intricate connection between music, culture, and identity.

Behind the scenes

Additionally, the documentary features stunning visuals from, Juan Carlos Alom, Ahmed’s uncle, and a celebrated Cuban photographer and filmmaker. Alom’s hand-processed 16mm black and white films lend a distinctive and unmistakable personal voice to the collective concerns woven throughout the narrative.
