David Saravia
Costa Rican pianist David Saravia has been recognized with numerous awards: Grand Prize and Special Prize for the best interpretation of the Central American works and the set of Cuban works at the III International Piano Competition “La Música del Siglo” (Lithuania, 2018), Outstanding Student 2017 and 2018 from the University of Costa Rica (UCR), First Prize and Special Prize for the best interpretation of Cuban music at the V International Piano “Musicalia” Contest (Cuba, 2017), Second Prize and Special Prize for the best interpretation of the Lithuanian works at the II International Piano Competition “La Música del Siglo” (Costa Rica, 2016), Third Prize at the I National Latin-American Piano Competition (Costa Rica, 2016) and Honors Student of the School of Musical Arts (EAM by its Spanish Initials) of the UCR (2015 , 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019).
Saravia had his first interactions with music at age 8, entering the National Institute of Music in 2005. He continued his training at the EAM-UCR under the tutelage of Edwin Marín, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree, in 2017. At the same institution he obtained his Licentiate Degree with the guidance of Leonardo Gell. In 2018 he did an internship at the University of the Arts of Cuba, receiving piano lessons with Ulises Hernández and piano accompaniment classes with Marita Rodríguez. He has also received classes with Jorge Federico Osorio, Andreu Riera, Szymon Nehring, Dora De Marinis, Sergey Kuznetsov, Vladimir Khomyakov, Caroline Fischer, Ana Markovina, Antonio Carbonell and with Maria Joao Pires.
