Rosario ARMAS
New York-based Mexican mezzo-soprano Rosario Armas has garnered recognition for her remarkable portrayals in opera productions. Her notable roles include Suora Zelatrice in Suor Angelica, Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Angelina in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan Tutte, Juana in Lucero's La Opera Juana, and Suzuki in Madame Butterfly. In the upcoming season, she eagerly anticipates her performance as Carmen in La Tragedie de Carmen.

Renowned for her profound voice, musicality, and fluency in Spanish, English, and Italian, Armas has received various scholarships and awards. She was honored with the prestigious Judith Raskin Scholarship from 2018 to 2022 and the International Advisory Board Scholarship from 2021 to 2022. In recognition of her talent, she was also awarded the "Encouragement Award" at the District MONC auditions in 2020 and 2021. Additionally, she achieved third place in the Joan Taub Ades Competition.
Armas has collaborated with esteemed orchestras such as the Orchestra Sinfónica de Morelia, Orchestra Sinfonica di Rimini, and Orquesta Sinfonica de Sinaloa. She has had the privilege of working with notable conductors including Pietro Billi, Felipe Tristan, Enrique Patron de Rueda, Thomas Muraco, Kevin Fitzgerald, Kent Tritle, and George Manahan. Armas has also had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned musicians such as Warren Jones, Kenneth Merrill, and Nicolò Sbuelz.
In 2020, Armas achieved the distinguished title of Winner at the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition held at the Manhattan School of Music. As part of this achievement, she performed De Falla's Siete Canciones Populares with the MSM Symphony Orchestra during the 2021 season. Currently, she serves as an Apprentice Singer at Sarasota Opera and as a Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera. Her upcoming engagements include covering the roles of Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly and Martha in Faust.
Rosario Armas, born in Tlaxcala, Mexico, began her vocal studies in 2012 under the guidance of Luis Fernando Cisneros and Antonio Lopez at a vocal studio in Puebla, Mexico. She furthered her education at the Pre-College Division of the Escuela Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). She obtained her Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music, studying under the esteemed Joan Patenaude-Yarnell.
Rosario lives in Manhattan, NY, with her husband, pianist Ahmed Alom.
