Back to News

PRE-ORDER NOW: Abismo Blanco the new single by the ensemble Low Frequency Trio, featuring music composed by Susan Campos—Fonseca. In this piece, Campos—Fonseca explores what Morton Feldman conceived as “music with surface.”

The single is part of Campos’ new album, set to be released on February 23rd, featuring artists such as María Clara Vargas Cullell, Low Frequency Trio, Isabel Crespo, Ileana Obando & Julián De La Chica.

About the Single:

“The research question is: What sounds can inhabit a single line? Three modules are proposed to consider this question: 1. ‘Fog,’ 2. ‘Foam,’ - both are a white abyss -, and 3) ‘Quetzal Sound.’ The quetzal is a creature that inhabits the high mountains of Mexico and Central America, serving as a sonic and poetic resource. In its flight, the quetzal undulates like a frequency in motion within the fog and is also akin to a wave in the ocean, transmuted into foam. The acoustic communication of the quetzal is transcribed for the sound and space-time parameters used in the composition: E flat and E natural, B flat and B natural, F sharp and F natural. Resources from the morphological study of fog, foam, and the quetzal itself are also incorporated.
