Irreverence Group Music [IGM] presents Nitke, from The Auschwitz Pieces cycle. Recorded by Julián De La Chica himself in his studio in Brooklyn, NY, the piece was composed during the summer of 2018, when De La Chica visited Auschwitz for the first time. During his visit, he found himself drawn to photos of prisoners, including Aniela (for whom he composed another piece in the cycle) and Nitke, as he was standing in line. He composed this piece in Nitke’s honor on his way back to Krakow on the bus. The photo on the cover is his own, taken by De La Chica himself.
The cycle premiered at Brooklyn's ShapeShifter Lab on August 16, 2018.
